Who We Serve

Just under 1 in 6 Floyd County, Indiana children face food insecurity. When school dismisses on Friday, these kids would leave their classroom unsure of whether they will have enough to eat that weekend, if not for the work of Blessings in a Backpack Floyd County.

As research indicates, consistent and reliable nutrition is necessary for success, not only academically, but also mentally and socially. Children from food insecure homes suffer from various cognitive delays and will also have a lower attendance rate.

Approximately 30% of NAFCS pre-K to 6th grade students enrolled in Blessings in a Backpack Floyd County. That number increases daily.
