1,500 = 35% of NAFCS elementary students
During the school week, these children are fed by their school’s federal free and reduced breakfast/lunch program.
But what do they eat on the weekends?
We have pledged to provide weekend food for any elementary child who needs it in Floyd County. We serve children at all ten NAFCS elementary schools. In a typical year, nearly 1,500 students will be served by our program. At the start of the 2016-17 school year, 1,227 children enrolled in the program. That number is increasing daily.
For as little as $2.64 per weekend, or $100 a school year, you can provide a hunger-free weekend to a child. Can you help?
